Early Childhood Education (2007 – ongoing)

Believing in the importance of early years’ development, Alfanar supported the Future Lights for Development Organisation (FLDO) in the establishment of a model day care centre based on the Maria Montessori method of education and in assisting other nurseries, in deprived districts of Cairo, to transform their services through the development of their supervisors and curricula. Holistic in its approach, FLDO also works with the children’s parents, in particular their mothers, to support them in improving their parenting skills and to develop the parent-supervisor relationship in the best interests of the children. Given that FLDO targets poor, disadvantaged communities, the day care centre is completely committed to a low-cost model, creatively developing low-cost resources and materials, and inspiring and training the outreach day care centres to follow suit.
